The VC added, "Yes, we are placed 13th out of 41 Universities that participated; and 2nd among the 19 state and private-owned Universities that participated.
But as we have often said, our involvement in sporting activities is not directly related to the winning of laurels. Important as that is, what we celebrate,
indeed, are participation and the leadership development platform that your involvement in sporting activities provides you with."
Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State, Nigeria, on Thursday last week, celebrated its Sports contingent to the 24th Nigerian University Games, NUGA, and its representatives at the 2013 National Debate for Nigerian Tertiary Institutions. The University organized a dinner in appreciation of its ambassadors.
He added, "As we always do, anywhere there is going to be sporting event to which our students are invited, the University will bend over backward to look for money to support them.
"This year, we are going to move forward to buy all the sporting equipment required in the new gymnasium such that it would become more functional."
He enjoined the Sport Unit staff and students to make judicious use of the facilities and institute a maintenance culture that will make the facility
enduring.
