Former SUG president writes an open letter to VC

Comrade Mayowa Adebiyi  also known as Angelmayor wrote a  lengthy open letter to VC prof. Femi  Mimiko, discussing the content is  beyond  me
please read it below with patience..

Dear Sir,
Neccesity had necessitated this letter at this material
time, having observed the recent imbroglio in
Adekunle Ajasin University, a one time best state
university in Nigeria and to borrow your slogan a 21st
century University properly called. As a visionary and a
member of the reformist wing of the national variety,
keeping mute will be unfair to the university who has
done much for us. Distinguish vice chancellor no doubt
my experience in the last few weeks in Akungba shows
that there is improvement on infrastructure and this
offcourse can not be separated from your
achievement.

continue....

Sir,"a leader is known not by the office
he occupies nor by the enormity of the power he
wields but by the magnanimity with which he
exercises the power entrusted to him and the humility
he demonstrates in his interaction with the people" Sir
the truth is that we cannot build a university in
physical properties alone and reduce our strength in
academic excellence which is the quality of
staff, because development itself is a function of
happiness, state of mental freedom of any given
society, information has it that all notable teachers of
sound academic excellence have left AAUA because of
your attitude. Your appointment as the vice chancellor
of AAUA in 2009 was expected to be an art of patriotic
labour and selfless service to the institution,as much
as I no that the vice chancellorship position has it own
high moral principles, however you have display high
level of acerbity against anybody who has different
views aside yours no matter how genuine. Your action
so far as constituted a major burden and as always
work against reliable order of development in the
institution.

As a younger brother to the visitor it is
expected of you to continually focus on service, duty,
responsibility and to be liberal so as to have common
venue to accommodate peoples opinion. Mr vice
chancellor sir,as a renowned professor of political
science with better understanding and enormous
knowledge of societal administration one would have
expected that you will have enough intellectual
experience to handle an academic community like
AAUA no matter how politically sensitive it may be. Mr
vice chancellor in fairness to God and man you did not
have valid basis for your actions so far in AAUA, it was
just a show of superiority over the members of staff
and students, because what you fail to tolerate today
was planted by you back in 2006/2007 when your
brother was contesting against Dr. Olusegun Agagu.
See page 26 The Nation Newspaper (13/02/2014), a
member of staff saying

"Should I say it is a pay back
time for us lecturers?"When he was denied this
fought for him and we mobilised and supported his
    brother to become governor"
 the lecturer said. But, Mr
appointment by the late Governor Olusegun Agagu,we
vice chancellor you have use your power in AAUA so
far to advance personal interest against collective
interest of all. The arears you refuse to pay due to "no
work no pay policy " established unilateraly by you
was needless given the circumstances that led to that
strike, other universities of learning in Nigeria
including OSUSTECH owned by Ondo state
government have resolve to pay their lecturers, sir your
action on this matter was consider by me as needless
intimidation and the boast of imperialism over the
lecturers.

 Distinguish Professor,within the university
you have been described as despotic, draconian,
autocratic and dictatorial. You have adopted and
recruited students, lecturers and other non-teaching
staff as an underground spy to report anybody within
the university community who may have different
opinion aside your views, a style similar to that of
Muammar Gadafi former Libya President
(Revolutionary committees to keep tight control over
internal dissent in 1969) sir this is primitive and
uncivilized.

Those who take side with you (the emperor)
against the powerless subjects should seek for the
forgiveness of Almighty God, because this is an unjust
assignment,it is a code that is out of harmony with the
moral law,it is not rooted in eternal law as it tends to
degrade human personality. I am sorry for Pastor
Bamidele Olotu the University Registrar who defended
an unholy position of the SECURITY OFFICIALS against
the LECTURERS compromising the biblical principle of
Shadrach,Meshach and Abednego who disobey the law
and instruction of Nebuchadnezzar,on the ground that
a higher moral law was at stake,he( Pastor Bamidele
Olotu) there by allow himself to be strip off the
garment of a real man of God.

Finally, most distinguish vice chancellor of our noble
institution, AAUA is ours,we have no other place to call
our own.I have been consistently observed the weight
of public observation about the whole situations in
AAUA,a promising 21st century university were a
recruited thugs otherwise known as SHERIFF
DEPUTIES(security officer)is been encourage to slap a
PHD Holder who is the chairman of all academic staff
including the vice chancellor himself (I wonder what a
defenseless students must have been facing in AAUA)
and yet the university defended it as appropriate I
think it is a clear negation of what the institution stand
for.

Hence the following are my advise.

1.   The vice
chancellor as a matter of urgency should desist from
this shenanigan cynicism and tender a public apology
to ASUU and other peoples involved and apply
necessary discipline on the said security officer.

2. A
capacity building training is recommended to the
university for the security officials for proper
management of higher institution of learning security
situation.

3. The vice chancellor should pay all the staff
their entitlements without further delay.

4. All
expelled Lecturers must be reinstated with immediate
effect, including those affected during the 2012
gubernatorial election in Ondo state. Sir, doing this will
make people see you as a leader with human feelings.
As true leaders are men of great character integrity
and honest reputation, no matter how juicy your
present position surely you shall leave it for others.
Remember Prof. Akindoyenin,Prof. Akere,Prof. Philip
and today you are there somebody must come after
you AAUA is greater than all of us.
Thank you!
Signed.
Comrade Mayowa Adebiyi (Angelmayor). A Former
President of the Students Union AAUA.

ASUU set for another Strike?

This morning I was listening to radio and I heard the news on asuu going on another strike when the six months strike ended not up to two months. Reasons given why universities gates might close again is that out Of the N220 billion that the Federal Government promised to release to universities for their development, the money that is to be warehoused with the Central Bank is yet to be released and this agreement was signed in presence of the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Abdulwaheed Omar.

Read what ASUU's National Treasurer, Dr. Ademola Aremu said below

"ASUU members are not strike mongers; our last strike was inevitable, although
it was preventable. Of the N220 billion that the Federal Government promised to release to our universities for their development, as we are talking now, the money that is to be warehoused with the Central Bank is yet to be released. The
Federal Government's promises remain just promises. We are appealing to Nigerians, through the media, to help us appeal to the Federal Government to make the promises become a reality."

Now I hope AAUA won't be involved if the strike resumes, I trust my able VC or what do you think?

AAUA CHAOS: Dr. Mekusi and five other Lecturers suspended, Face investigating panel on monday.

Six members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities(ASUU), Adekunle Ajasin University chapter, Akungba-Akoko(AAUA) were yesterday  suspended by the University management.
Their suspension was connected to the query issued by the University Authority through the Registrar, R.O. Olotu to four ASUU executives and two members of the extended Exco over an ongoing dispute between ASUU members and the University security.
Sources said the suspended ASUU executives led by Dr. Busuyi Mekusi are to face an investigation panel over the attack on ASUU National Officers by the University Internal Security Officials when they went for Zonal meeting at the University last week. Names of other five  lecturers is unknown i hear its confidential, but all involved are excos of ASUU-AAUA.
They were also barred from entering the University Campus.
Ondo State Police Commissioner, Patrick Dokumor had on Tuesday assigned some Officers to investigate the disruption of the Academic Staff Union of University(ASUU) meeting at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko.
The decision of the Police boss was based on a letter written to him by the Counsel to ASUU, Mr Charles Titiloye.
The Lawyer complained of the refusal of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Akungba Police Station to investigate the attack on the lecturers.
Besides, the National Leadership of ASUU met with AAAU visitor, Governor Olusegun Mimiko on the development in the University.
He expressed concern on the need to probe the assault on lecturers of the institution by the university security men who claimed to be acting on instruction of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Femi Mimiko, who is a younger brother of the state governor.
The University authority had earlier in queried ASUU Chairman in AAUA, Dr Busuyi Mekusi with some other members and directed them to respond to various allegations in respect of the attack on lecturers within a stipulated 24hours.
In a query written by the registrar of the University, Olotu, the ASUU Chairman was accused of assaulting the university security men, disruption of the University academics and the subsequent media publication of the alleged attack on ASUU members.
Mekusi was asked to explain why disciplinary action would not be taken against him by the University administration.
I hear all suspended lectures will face a disciplinary  committee on monday.

Read what ASUU president Fagge said about AAUA VC

Yesterday in a conference at Akure, the Head of The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) Dr. Nasir Fagge made a comment on the brother to ONDO state Governor and the VC of AAUA. The comment in quote below

It is unimaginable that a Vice Chancellor of a state-owned university in a Labor Party-controlled state would unashamedly canvass for the castration of labor activists,"

Hmm, what do you have to say?

AAUA STRIKE: Hope AAUA won't turn out like LASU?

Recently you all heard of the riot in Lasu because I posted it here on this blog and now the situation has taken another edge. Lasu is set to embark on
another round of strikes.

The lecturers are unhappy over a number of long-standing issues they say the school's administration has failed to address. This was part of decisions reached during the ASUU-LASU congress which was monitored by City Voice during the week.

Now here's the gist, AAUA is experiencing something of such nature. If you've been following my posts, you'd observe two different terrible occurrences in just this week.

The AAUA-ASUU is set to hold a meeting with the VC on Monday which will determine the strike. I pray it goes well, I'll bring you details of the meeting when I have them. Can you predict what will happen on Monday?

Gunshots in AAUA, Two expatriates kidnapped

Better late than never, i've been having connection issues since morning so i could'nt post. well here's the detailed gist.
four gunmen gained access into campus yesterday evening in a  Mercedes Benz Car and started shooting sporadically into the air. The guys attacked the  white-men in charge of the building of the senate building under construction with  Charvet Construction Company in a  Nissan Xterra Jeep and shot   the driver. However the police came to their resuce but they fired and  succeeded in killing a police man and three others injured.

The assailants whisked the expatriates away to an unknown destination after the abandoned their own car and left with the  foreigners jeep though i hear the jeep had been since found.

thats all i know for now, updates  definitely coming soon.

Adekunle Ajasin University Lecturers In Ondo Threaten Boycott, Ask For Removal Of Vice Chancellor Mimiko Over ASUU Assaults

Adekunle Ajasin University Akunga Akoko (AAUA) chapter lecturers are threatening to boycott their academic activities Tuesday, and demanding the Vice Chancellor step down, following an attack earlier this morning on the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of University (ASUU), Dr. Busuyi Mekusi and members of sister unions.
Dr. Mekusi was beaten and sustained injuries along with union members during a fight provoked by school security, Sheriff Security Outfit.
He and other union members were admitted to a private hospital, and are being discharged when they regain consciousness.
ASUU's Dr. Mekusi and union members from Benue State University and University of Ibadan were attacked when they came for a meeting at the University today. While visitors were assaulted by school security their car tires were also deflated.
Lecturers voted unanimously to boycott their academic activities on Tuesday to register their objection to the assaults, call for the removal of AAUA Vice Chancellor, Prof. Femi Mimiko, and call for the arrest of the perpetrators of the attack.
Saharareporters learned the VC has been at loggerheads with the institution's union following the almost four month-long nationwide ASUU strike when academic activities were paralyzed.
Since the strike, Professor Mimiko, who is the younger brother of Ondo State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, has engaged in intimidation threatening to sack union faculty.
ASUU will issue a statement once its members meet.
A request for comment was sent to AAUA public relations and protocol department for comment.
