"He explained that while Owo feeder is from Akure, that Akungba’s own is from Okene, and it passes through Ajaokuta —–» Ido Ani —–» Oka —–» before it gets to Akungba which is unfortunately at the tail end (the reason why light is always low).He said the feeder is taking too much load than its capacity. He said the SUG has visited his Office several times which even involved Locking his office and involving the Police in Owo.He said the Akungba community was disconnected totally from the feeder since the community have decided not to pay their debt.He said as at Nov,2013, the community was just able to pay #54,000 out of #4m debt for November, while Iwaro community were still able to pay #300,000. As at Dec 31st, Akungba could only pay #244,000 while Iwaro paid over #1m out of their debt. He said he didn’t bring any bill January because he didn’t even give Akungba supply, he said he even made 25% adjustment to the bill maybe they would still pay. But Negative, they didn’t.After so many questions and recommendations from students, he promised to not disconnect Akungba for a Month (this doesn’t mean there would be light for a month ooo, it simply means when there is power to supply, Akungba too will have), because he said the feeder is always having issues because of the heavy load on it. About the payment of bills, he recommended that our landlords should get Meters by coming to pay for it ASAP and also recommended students shouldn’t pay our Electricity bills to our landlords again..that we can pay to any bank. The SUG promised to do something about the payment method."original poster:aauaamebo
I hope with this there's a lasting solution to the absolute darkness in akungba.
